Happy Trails - Lessons for a New Year

I'm not a deeply analytical person, but the trail has a way of teaching you the things that are really important.  At the top of the list was Gratitude:  to be thankful for what you have, thankful for what you are given and thankful for all things great and small.  It's about as good as a life lesson as you can get.  As well as Gratitude, the trail also taught me the importance of:

Humor
Tenacity
Resourcefulness
Self-discipline
Enthusiasm
Question Asking
Spontaneity
Sense of Wonder
Persistence
Courage
Curiosity
Endurance
Resilience
Critical thinking
Self-Awareness
Simplicity
Patience

I've never been on an adventure that I regretted.  Mostly, what I have taken away from this experience is that Life is for Living. Yup, I'm a long time believer in that.  Create the life you want and then live the heck out of it, friends.  Happy New Year!

An impressive list! A shame more people don't live by it. The world would be a much happier place.
Yesterday I enjoyed walking at Springbrook in the Purlington Falls area. Not sure if your through walk would have taken you there.

No argument here. The more you experience: the better it gets. Glad to see humour near the top of the list as well. In my personal experience, maintaining a sense of humour is key to surviving the tough spots. All the best for 2013. Looking forward to enjoying your new adventures. Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!

What's happening in Banff this year? Skoki? Running on frozen lakes? Planning a new adventure?

Yes, the Leslie blog has always been about sharing my adventures in and around Banff. I've been home over 2 months now and I was sick for one of those. Good news is: I'm back in the saddle! 4 ski days last week and 3 runs. I haven't run in 8 months, so I'm having to exercise some self control. Walk breaks. Stretching. Running is hard work! The goal is to be back fit enough so I can run around for hours and hours and hours come summertime. But, yes! It's time to post some current adventures!
