It's an important thing, the ability to focus on the now and this being present thing-a-ma-jiggy. It directly affects your level of happiness and satisfaction with life. Even the eternally optimistic Leslie's of the world need an occasional kick in the pants to stay motivated and stay present. It's so easy to day dream.
So, look around you! While dreams are always important, so is this living in the present stuff.

ReplyDeleteEasy for you to say enjoy present and dream/plan less - look where you live! If your mountain topped at 1,000 feet and trails accounted for all of 20 miles (ok, there are more, but more of the same, and half have no views at all), I'd see how you talk! No complaining though, choice is a choice, ya know...but come 6 years from now...
ReplyDeleteOh, yeah. There's always dreamin' and schemin' to be done, I'm a big fan of that! I just don't want to fall into that "the grass is always greener" syndrome. Life is Good. No, I can't hop on an airplane and go to New Zealand to hike/run the Te Araroa Trail - but I can enjoy myself right here and right now. Time to focus on that and be good with it.

Hey Moogy! Hope all is well with you. You still blogging? Living on a big boat? Racing occasionally? Funny, I never noticed the toque until you mentioned it. It just the tag on my toque - but my sunglasses are definitely under the tag! That toque was a freebee. It's been around a long time, but it's wool and I dig it. :) Keith is a superstar! He healed like a charm and hasn't had any major problems with recovery. More importantly, no pain. I've been blown away. And darn happy and impressed with his speedy recovery.

I think that I'm completely behind my injury (yeah...TOTALLY jinxed now) so I'm doing Angeles Crest 100 in Aug and Meet Your Maker 50 in Sept. Totally psyched about those. I'm also doing Sulphur 50 in May, as a litmus.
I'm stoked about the MYM race. Have never been to Whistler.

I think I need a T-shirt that says "Ambassador of Awesomeness". Definitely. :) I absolutely loved the Angeles Crest part of the PCT, I'd love to make a return visit! Those are some great trails as is the town of Wrightwood. The August date scares me a little, this girl would probably melt. I hadn't even heard of Meet your Maker - holy huge elevation gain and loss! I'm most envious.
